Breastfeeding is the best start for you and your baby.
Most women want to breastfeed their babies because they know it is the best.
But sadly many women wean earlier than they wish to, due to problems that are either avoidable or manageable.
Breastfeeding is natural, but it is a learned skill. It can take some time to become natural.

We provide your family with the information, encouragement and support you need both before and after your baby is born:

• Prenatal breastfeeding assessment and counseling

Positioning and latching the baby at the breast

• Breastfeeding when a child gains weight slowly

Prevention and management of sore or damaged nipples

• Maternal problems that may impact on breastfeeding; unusual breast or nipple anatomy, history of breast surgery, physical disability

Increasing or decreasing milk production

• Yeast infection, mastitis or recurrent blocked ducts

Breastfeeding twins or multiples

• Breastfeeding even when medical issues arise with mom or baby

Suck difficulties that interfere with breastfeeding

• Breastfeeding premature babies

Breastfeeding special needs babies (neurological deficits, physical disabilities, cleft lip/palate, Down’s syndrome)

• Continuing to breastfeed after going back to work or school

Expressing and storing breastmilk

Hospitalization of mother and/or baby
